Charles D. Herold is the founder and President of Herco Business Advisors, LLC. He has spent more than 50 years advising business owners, lenders, management teams, and stakeholders on matters involving financial restructuring, operational improvement, business transitions, and value enhancement.
Drawing upon decades of experience working with closely held and middle-market companies, Mr. Herold provides practical, results-oriented guidance to owners facing growth challenges, financial pressures, succession concerns, or strategic opportunities. His work has included debt restructurings, turnaround assignments, performance improvement initiatives, ownership-transition planning, and business brokerage engagements.
Herco Business Advisors was established to provide business owners with direct access to senior-level expertise without the complexity and cost often associated with larger consulting organizations.
Eighteen Years in Commercial & Corporate Banking
Mr. Herold began his career in commercial and corporate banking in 1975. During the last twelve years of his banking career he served as Senior Vice President and Department Manager for Corporate Banking at C&S Bank in Florida (West Coast Division), and then as Senior Lender and Senior Vice President/Commercial Division Manager at SouthTrust Bank, with responsibility for a loan portfolio exceeding $870 million. He completed his banking career as President of the Bank of St. Petersburg.
More Than Three Decades Advising Closely Held Businesses
In 1993, after eighteen years in banking, Mr. Herold chose to devote his career to the closely held, entrepreneurially run companies he had banked for so many years. He founded Enterprise Financial Services, Inc. to provide corporate financial consulting to privately held businesses in the Tampa Bay area, concentrating on banking and finance, general corporate finance consulting, debt placement, and business brokering. Through that firm and its successor, he has served as a financial advisor, turnaround consultant, and interim Chief Financial Officer for numerous companies, helping owners become properly capitalized, restructure debt with their lenders, improve operating performance, and plan for ownership transition.
Herco Business Advisors, LLC continues that work with a focused set of services: debt restructuring, turnaround management, business advisory services, management consulting, exit planning, and business brokerage.
Qualifications
Mr. Herold has extensive experience in all areas of corporate and commercial financing, commercial and corporate banking services, cash management, turnaround management, and business brokering. He holds numerous certifications in commercial and corporate lending, cash management, cash flow analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting. He is a licensed Florida real estate broker and a licensed business broker.
Mr. Herold received his B.S. in Finance from Florida Atlantic University and completed post-graduate work at Florida State University. He has served as interim CFO for several clients until they were properly capitalized and able to secure quality management personnel in the accounting and finance area.
A resident of the Tampa Bay area since 1955, Mr. Herold has built long-term relationships with a multitude of attorneys, CPAs, commercial lenders, wealth advisors, and valuation professionals whom he brings into client engagements where required.
